The Finance Council, according to Church law, advises the pastor on financial matters. More specifically, according to Archdiocesan regulation, the Finance Council should consist of three to five members with financial expertise to oversee the parish budget, to advise on spending projects up to $10,000.00, and to prepare an outline of parish finances to present to the Archdiocesan Debt Review Committee for larger projects.
The Finance Council is directed by the values of the Gospel in fulfilling it's responsibilities, as well as by good business practice. Efficient and effective use and management of parish resources must be measured as much by their contribution to parish mission and ministry as by commonly accepted business standards.
